HS codes for home and kitchen products
Household goods are mostly classified by what they are made of: ceramics in Chapter 69, steel articles in Chapter 73, glass in Chapter 70. A few headings are defined by function instead — vacuum flasks in heading 9617 and candles in heading 3406 are two common examples.
That means similar-looking products can land in very different places. A steel bottle with a vacuum layer and one without it follow different headings, and a porcelain mug and a stoneware mug follow different subheadings.
