HS codes for apparel and accessories
Clothing sits in Section XI of the Harmonized System. The first fork is fabric construction: knitted or crocheted garments fall in Chapter 61, while garments of woven fabric fall in Chapter 62. A product name such as “tee” or “hoodie” does not settle that question — the fabric does.
Inside each chapter, the garment type picks the heading and the fiber picks the six-digit subheading. When a garment mixes fibers, the fiber that predominates by weight usually controls, so a composition label with percentages is one of the most useful facts you can capture.
This output is general information at the 6-digit level only. The final classification for any entry must be determined by a licensed customs broker or the importer. This page is not a classification of your product.
Product guides
- Cotton T-shirts6109.10 is the leading candidate for T-shirts that are knitted or crocheted and made mainly of cotton. The product still needs enough detail to confirm that it is a T-shirt rather than a collared shirt, a sweatshirt or a woven top.
- HoodiesMost knitted pullover hoodies are researched in heading 6110 — 6110.20 when cotton predominates and 6110.30 when man-made fibers predominate. A hooded garment with enough jacket features can instead move to the anorak and windbreaker headings.

Describe your item in plain language. HTS Assist searches the active USITC tariff schedule, legal notes and CBP rulings, ranks six-digit candidates with a confidence score, and asks about the facts that could change the result.
